About Embassy

India established its diplomatic relations with Suriname in 1976. Initially, the High Commissioner residing in Georgetown was accredited as Ambassador to Suriname. In January 1977, the Embassy of India was opened in Paramaribo.

The jurisdiction of the Mission covers the Republic of Suriname and is concurrently accredited to the Caribbean countries: Barbados, Saint Lucia and Saint Vincent & the Grenadines.


The Embassy of India is currently located at Dr. Sophie Redmondstraat 239 in Paramaribo.
